Rachio App Reviews

Just keeps getting better

The soil moisture display is a great feature, I like that its in the iOS app now instead of checking the web app. Keep up the innovation. I cant wait to see what you guys come up with next.

Love the product

Simply cool! In my case, the biggest issue was losing stickers on two zone wires and mixing them by mistake. A wire swap fixed that. Software works great, hardware works great. I had more work I had to do with Nest than Rachio. Frankly, somewhat anticlimactic, but meeting all my expectations. I slightly miss the "test" mode from my old manual controller, which ran each zone for X minutes. This was resolved with a manual schedule at X minutes for each zone and then disabling the schedule, but still have the ability to run it at will. Awesome product.

Excellent Product!!

Between power outages form nasty weather, and changing town watering schedules at our family vacation home in FL, our old sprinkler controller was always be off track. After we were fined by the town for not watering on the correct day, I searched for a solution and found Rachio. Installation was easy and took me about an hour to swap out the controller and connect it to my wireless network. Now that we have the Rachio, I can control our watering schedule, monitor usage, or manually turn on the system for the sprinkler maintenance guy when he comes, all from another state and only using my iPhone. I especially love how based on rain predictions in the area, you can set it to automatically skip the watering schedule for that day. Thanks Rachio for making a great product!!

Demo mode

Add a demo mode to the app(test drive, just to see how it looks in operation). Probably increase sales.

Not working

We need an update device is not responsive!

Great app

Works as advertised

Best of the connected sprinklers

Regular app updates, great support and community, easy set up. Not sure what more you could ask.

Manual Watering issue

When watering all zones via manual watering, app in IOS does not show which zone is watering. Just shows the timer countdown.

Portrait only layout ruins an otherwise decent app

Overall it is functional, if not a bit dated and with a menu system lacking common sense requiring scrolling to access what your looking for. Additionally the most significant miss is the lack of landscape mode which solicits much head shaking as it is 2015. Now for those that walk around with little iPhones , ok, fine. But my iPads are wall mounted for cameras, thermostats, automation, and this is the only app which requires me to tilt my head sideways to read, and of course guest ask why the app is sideways. My answer is Rachio is behind the times. If not for that I would bump it to 4 stars. . Also, it would be nice to know which zone is active.

No major response to feedback

While I never see any changes made related to my or other users feedback, thought I would try a new suggestion-what the heck! Under manual watering, there is no option to run the normal program? You can set how many minutes you want, but if each of your zones have different times, it would be a lot easier to have the option to run the normal program. My "cheapie" Orbit timer I used to have let me do that with one push of the button as did the Toro before that??

Brilliant system

They have created something revolutionary. As a property management company, we at The VIR Group use this on almost all of our rental properties. Saves owners 50% on their water bills!!

Needs a consumer version

While this watering system does somewhat work, it is very frustrating to anyone but an absolute professional. I am a programmer by trade and it is near impossible for me to program the system. this is way way way too complicated for the average every day user. If youre looking for an easy system this is not for you. What the system needs is an easy way to set minutes and zones.

almost perfect

waiting for next update to hopefully allow more custom edits to schedules! otherwise it always connects and allows you nearly perfect control of your watering.... the ability to use the weather predictive scheduling sounds perfect but I have new sod and have to aggressively water and having only one repeat per day keeps me from a 5 star app review!

Needs Improvement

I just bought one and I just reseeded my new lawn. I have to manually open and close app to keep it moist. I wish there is a button to press and new lawn. Older system has this why Rachio IRO doesnt. I wound recommend this if you have a new lawn or plan you reseed your lawn every year. If they add this feature, its a 5 star.

Have been pleased in the past

Still no size classes. No automatic migration of deprecated flex schedules. App hangs when creating a new schedule. Hardware earns five stars, app earns one. Need new product manager.

New update broke the app

On the phone with Tom for 45+ minutes. They broke the app and took away flex schedules. I cant water my lawn anymore. -Kyle

I liked the original app...this one crashes

I recently updated. It appears I missed several versions of the app since I installed. The new version is waaaaaay too complicated. The old version was very simple, much more intuitive. This one is hard to navigate with two calendar views and some other random information I really dont care about. I just want to schedule the watering cycle, and if its intelligent enough to shut off when its raining, great! But I have a native app in my phone to tell me the weather which is far more accessible than opening Rachio and figuring out what its saying. Dumb it back to where it was. This app crashes constantly with a convoluted collection of features that distract from its primary purpose...scheduling.

Do not update

Everything worked seamless. Update the app and I was unable to connect.

Freezes non-stop

Never had any issues with rachio what so ever after the update on 04/22/2016 the app opens and freezes - cannot do anything! Frustrating since I cannot use my control module to run and check things on my sprinkler system! Never had any issues was actually quite found of Rachio and the app - that has quickly changed! Please fix this bug and why it freezes with the new update. I have an iPhone 5 running the latest software 9.3.1. I have also sent an email to your support system!

Update gets rid of flex schedules

The decision to get rid of the flex schedules doesnt make sense to me. They say it was just beta and that the new option to water "as needed" replaces it. Not exactly...the flex schedules would treat each zone individually when considering when to water, whereas the "as needed" treats all zones as a group. The as needed puts the whole group of zones on an interval and that interval updates monthly. So, May would water every 3 days then June changes to every 2 days, etc. With the old flex schedule, it would treat each zone individually and water them independently of each other. Also, the flex schedules used to allow you to opt out of watering on specific days. My neighborhood doesnt allow watering on Mondays, and I no longer have the option to add this no-watering-day to the new "as needed" watering schedule. This app was perfect the way it was (other than no freeze delay, which the update does have, but it wasnt worth losing the other features over it)...why why why did the developers do this!
